Trauma and Emotional Regulation in Children

CATS director David Stimson (UKCP Accred) presented this live webinar (April 2021) on Emotional Regulation in children, to highlight the complexities of presentations for the traumatised child, particularly within education.

This short workshop/webinar explores the links between developmental trauma, attachment, environment and the resulting difficulties for a child’s ability to self-regulate – both physically and emotionally. The workshop was originally intended for those within the education system, but would equally be relevant to anyone trying to understand the traumatised child. Including social workers, therapists, teachers, parents, adoptive parents, foster carers and so on.

David Stimson has been working with clients with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties for over sixteen years. He has extensive experience within the school and education system working with learning and behaviour support within primary, secondary and special education. David is a co-founder and Managing Director of CATS, is a qualified UKCP registered therapist and has clinical experience of working with both children, adults and families, including adoption.
